How do i get rid of CLOVERS from my Lawn?

My lawn seems infested with clovers. I only want to see green grass blades for then entire lot but i see these clovers popping up, usually near the edges where the sidewalk/driveway meet. Is there a product that can kill clover (e.g. a preemergent) or must i use roundup on it only?

the best way is to over seed heavly. it can be costly and it will take time. you can lay a spray down. but if you do that you cannot seed tell it is out of your yard

Personally I love the look of clover in a green healthy lawn. It breaks it up a little and gives it some interest. It’s what my artisitc eye prefers. But if you are anal, like my hubby, and want the perfect lawn you can try using a weed and feed treatment. It will kill weeds and at the same time strengthen your lawn which will inhibit weed growth. Don’t use round-up. It will kill your lawn as well as the clover.

look for a selective herbicide that lists clover as one of the items it kills.

There are selective weed killers which kill broadleaved weeds and not the grass (some of them actually feed the grass). Roundup will kill every plant it touches (unless you are growing GM maize or rape/canola). You will have to be prepared for some brown and bare patches while the grass grows back, so it may not be till next year before you have the lawn you want.

Clover, however, does fix nitrogen from the air, so it tends to keep a lawn lush. Before you go ahead and spray it, spend some time looking for a four-leafed one :) (Not as brainless as it sounds, getting to know your lawn and what is growing in it is part of the secret of good lawn keeping).

There are herbicides made just for broad leaf grasses and weeds roundup will leave bare spots in your lawn and it is to late in the year for pre-emergents.
